Welcome to Jarrettsville Baseball

President’s Message:    Welcome to another year of Jarrettsville Baseball. I have made several changes that hopefully will translate into a fun and exciting season. My goal is to make baseball fun again for everyone, not just the travel players or the truly exceptional players.

In-House Program:   I felt that our in-house program has been neglected and needs to be the base for our program. The best way to accomplish this is to require all travel players to participate in the in-house program. We also will spend a majority of our funds for new in-house equipment. My goal is to supply every team with new batting helmets, new catcher’s equipment, first aid kits and batting tees.

Board of Directors:  I felt that a baseball board needed to be formed so that all decisions are not made by one person alone. The board will discuss and vote on all purchases and major decisions.

Uniforms:  We decided to do away with the plain colored t-shirts and go with NCAA College t-shirts and hats. They look much better and we feel that the players will like them much better.

Fundraising:  We decided that every player will have to purchase five raffle tickets totaling $25.00 at the time of registration. You can keep the raffle tickets or sell them to recoup your money. We are raffling off a signed and framed Cal Ripken Jersey and photo as well as a signed and framed Nick Markakis photo. This fundraising fee does two things, it raises money for equipment and it eliminates us begging for money the rest of the year. Everyone that I have talked with would rather pay the $25.00 fee in the beginning of the year and not be asked to contribute the rest of the season.

Basket Bingo:  At the request of numerous parents, we will be having another basket bingo again this year. The date has not been confirmed yet but it will probably be sometime in late May. Again, we will not be asking for donations from teams because we already have the funds from the fundraising raffle. The only cost is admission and bingo cards which are very cheap.

Registration Fees:   We were actually able to reduce the cost of some age groups compared to previous years. The majority of the registration fees for the older players are umpire fees. The fees are listed below:

5/6 & 7/8 age group = $50.00     9/10 age group = $70.00

11/12 & 13/15 age group = $75.00    16/19  age group = $125.00

Sponsors:   If anyone is interested in sponsoring a team or to have their business mentioned in our program guide, please contact us immediately.

Budget:    There will be no secret purchases or expenditures. Once our budget is complete, it will be posted on the website.
